Many of us have seen the news stories about buying Green. What does it mean to buy Green Energy? How do you know when you are purchasing your Electricity each month that it really is Green Energy?

The independent organization Green-e can tell you if you are truly buying Green Energy. Look for the Green-e Certified logo. The Green-e Program certifies the Green Energy you are purchasing meets the minimum environment and consumer protection standards extablished by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions. The definition of Green-e Certified can be found at www.green-e.org. How do I get it? "Green-e certified renewable energy is available in three ways: from your utility company, through the purchase of renewable energy certificates (RECs), or through direct purchasing by a renewable energy supplier.", according to Green-e.
